Formed in 2019 by Kyra McLeod Equal Lateral is a design and build company that values form as much as function. Equal Lateral furniture and designs are created to be sculptural objects that accentuate the form and space of the environment they occupy .

Kyra McLeod is the owner and operator of Equal Lateral. She grew up in Calgary and always had a passion for drawing and painting. Studying Visual Arts in Victoria sparked her love of sculpture and a desire to engineer functional art. After completing a BFA with honours, Kyra continued to explore her love of design + building and studied furniture making at Humber College. Upon leaving Humber College Kyra worked at a number of custom woodworking and furniture shops in Toronto. After deciding to get back to her roots in Alberta, Kyra moved to Calgary and built a workshop to have a dedicated space to design and build her own work.
